Hardness

Like all our instruments, Wallace hardness testers are designed to maximise value in use. They deliver highly repeatable, standards-compliant results with minimal operator influence. Built for productivity, they require minimal maintenance and enable fast set-up, simple operation, and reduced training. Clear controls and intuitive software provide full traceability of results and integrate easily with quality management systems.

What is Hardness Testing

Hardness testing measures the resistance of rubber, elastomers, and plastics to indentation under defined conditions of force, indenter geometry, and dwell time, using standardised methods such as Shore and IRHD.

It is one of the most widely used quality control checks, giving immediate feedback on material behaviour, processing consistency, and final product performance.

Hardness Testing provides a rapid, repeatable indication of material stiffness, cure state, and batch-to-batch consistency.
